Biodegradable and compostable: let's clarify
The main difference between “biodegradable” and “compostable” essentially concerns the timing in which the envelope (in this case, sachet or bag) is reabsorbed in the environment. In fact, the term biodegradable means all such material can be reabsorbed by the environment in a defined number of years. On the other hand, when we speak of compostable we mean material that is reabsorbed in the environment in reduced form and within specific time (3 months if in direct contact with organic material).
